OMg! I did this a billion times when I was younger, but never so prettily and I never thought to include the train ticket! Awesome!

Haha thanks so much! I used to make much less sophisticated versions when I was younger, they make great presents!

I see you bought the paper on Etsy - so how did you make the train-ticket? :)

The paper was actually purchased from a local paper shop that specializes in natural and handmade papers.

The ticket was a bit more complicated! I used Illustrator to design a base template and once they're printed, I use a paint brush and size to apply the gold leaf -- it's definitely the most labor intensive part of the project!

Oooh man! What I would have given to receive one of these when I was eleven!!

Totally Wicked job! And the ticket too! It's a compleat package!...I think yours are better than any mass produced letters that any company could make...it's hand made which gives it a more authentic feel.....Do you seal it with actuall sealing wax too?

Thank you very much for your kind words. I feel that there is something that feels too mass produced about the ones that Warner Bros, etc sell -- I would think that Hogwarts would like to splurge on the letters for their incoming students! I do use crimson sealing wax to close the envelope and even have a Hogwarts Crest seal to finish them off! Here's an image of one of the sealed sets, here [link]

Amazing! And I totally agree that they would spare no expense for the future generations of the wizarding world! Aww awesome! It's details like the real seal and sealing wax that make your stand out! Among other things..:D

So far, I have done 3 as gifts for family and friends as well as 2 more commissions through my Etsy shop (and an extra ticket for someone who was interested in purchasing it separately). My system has become more efficient because I have had so much practice, but I still make sure to take my time and effort into each one!

That's awesome and really nice of you to make it for your friends and family. I would totally do that for my nephew after I read him the series and see what his reaction would be. My poor nephew would probably be disappointed when he won't be able to go to Platform 9 and 3/4 until he's older but he'll probably treasure the gift :)
